AADK Centro Negra Art Residency, Spain
Joaquín Gómez and I formed a team to explore various facets of architecture. At AADK Spain, Centro Negra, we delved into vernacular architecture, articulating the balance and interdependence between old and new materials, as well as methods from before and after the industrial era.
During our residency, we experimented with pieces and actions that highlighted the temporal and socio-geographic aspects of self-construction. Our work involved an almost archaeological process of searching for and selecting elements, classified by material, time, and size, and then reorganizing them into three pieces that poetically displayed relationships of affinity and contrast.
Our goal was to reveal the fragility and temporality of architecture. These seemingly solid and enduring structures carried a literal statement and an extended metaphor applicable to many aspects of life.
