Spontaneous Architectures is an ongoing artistic research project inspired by the impromptu structures that emerge to meet immediate needs. My father, architect and artist Edgardo Berta, instilled in me a fascination for these spontaneous architectures—from roadside huts selling oranges to makeshift construction sites—structures that defy conventional architectural norms.

Drawing on Italo Calvino's "Six Memos for the Next Millennium," and the insights of poet Giacomo Leopardi, this project embraces the beauty found in the vague, open, and indeterminate. Such qualities allow for multiple interpretations and layers of meaning to emerge over time.

In architecture, the richness and complexity of meaning arise from the construction process itself, shaped by the materials and conditions that define it. Spontaneous Architectures seeks to explore and celebrate these ephemeral and dynamic creations.
