  • Leaning into the wind
RISD Beach, Barrington, RI

This project explores the dynamic presence and absence of wind in the landscape, particularly in the salt marsh area. By creating voids and varying their heights, I aim to redirect the wind along a proposed path, offering diverse interactions with the wind.

Using phragmites as the main material, my design highlights how the southwest and northwest winds influence the site. The two paths, north and south, allow visitors to feel the wind in different ways, such as on their backs while walking towards the sunset or facing intense wind followed by calm.

The project also records the wind's impact on the reeds, reflecting the landscape's changing conditions. Overall, "Leaning into the Wind" seeks to deepen our connection to the land through the experience of wind.
